FAQs

  • Most people experience some benefits of Vedic Meditation while completing the course, and report more benefits within the first week or two after learning. Early experiences include a feeling of calm, more energy, a clearer mind and improved quality of sleep. Benefits increase over time the more you practise. Give it six weeks and see how your life has changed.

  • Yes, anyone can easily learn Vedic Meditation. Unlike other meditation techniques, with Vedic Meditation you don’t need to control your thoughts.

The difference is you have your mantra, which helps your mind to naturally de-excite and experience moments of deep inner silence. But it’s not all about attaining silence - thoughts are a part of meditation. On the course you’ll learn why having thoughts in meditation is just as good as experiencing silence. Both experiences are signs of successful meditation.

  • Yes. When we practise Vedic Meditation, we sit in a comfortable position with our backs supported. We want to be as comfortable as possible, so you can change how you’re sitting or scratch an itch, for example. Sitting still is not a requirement when practising Vedic Meditation.

  • To complete the Learn to Meditate course, you’ll pay a one-time course fee. The fee varies depending on your circumstances, such as whether you’re employed, or you’re a student, or retired. Get in touch to find out more.

  • No. Vedic Meditation originated over 5000 years ago from a body of knowledge called the Veda. This ancient knowledge was preserved in India, however it is universal knowledge and it pre-dates all modern day religions. If you are religious, your Vedic Meditation practise will not conflict with your religion.

  • Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was a revered spiritual teacher from the Shankaracharya lineage of the Vedic tradition.

Sheryn Canter teaches Vedic Meditation and was trained to teach this form of meditation by Thom Knoles. Thom was trained as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation (“TM”) by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (“Maharishi”), and taught it for over 25 years with organisations affiliated with Maharishi. Since 1997, Thom has continued to teach this meditation as he learned it from Maharishi, and has done so independently and separately from the TM organisations, using the terms “Vedic Meditation". Thom Knoles trained Sheryn to teach meditation as Thom was trained to teach meditation by Maharishi. Sheryn teaches Vedic Meditation independently and separately from TM organisations, and is not affiliated with those organisations.
